United States, 1965. A new type of nurse is born, yet few people understand what this ‘nurse practitioner’ does. This nurse is not doing things a ‘normal’ nurse would do. She or he is doing things previously done only by a physician. How can this be? What is going on? Do they think they are a doctor? Or are they a junior doctor? Did they enroll in medical school and when will they finish? Is this a new kind of practical nurse or are they practicing to be a physician?
